Mayor Requests Flower Arrangements for Depok's Anniversary Be Replaced with Trees
Depok City will celebrate its 27th anniversary on 27 April 2026. The Depok City Government (Pemkot Depok) is urging all parties not to send flower arrangements, but trees instead.
This is outlined in Circular Letter number 400.14.12/214/DLHK/2026 regarding the appeal for congratulations on the 27th Anniversary of Depok City, signed by the Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri. Residents are encouraged to replace such greetings with the donation of trees.
“The three types of trees recommended in the appeal are tabebuya, mahogany, and Bali frangipani,” said Supian Suri, as quoted from the Depok City Government website, Friday (17/4/2026).
This policy aims to support the greening programme while reducing waste. He stated that other types of trees are also permitted, as long as they can grow to a minimum height of 2 metres.
“The donated trees are expected to have a minimum height of 2 metres or a trunk diameter of around 10 cm,” he said.
He mentioned that this appeal applies generally. He expressed a desire for this year’s Depok anniversary celebration to not be merely ceremonial.
“This appeal applies to various groups, from government agencies, the Regional People’s Representative Council, sub-district heads and village heads, community leaders, to all residents of Depok City,” he said.
