Mayor, One-Ton Sacrificial Cow Worth Rp110 Million, Ordered by President Prabowo from Bandung Barat
A jumbo cow, named Mayor, owned by Dede, 48, from Kampung Pasirkuning, Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, Bandung Barat Regency, West Java, has been chosen by President Prabowo Subianto to be the sacrificial animal for Idul Adha 1447 H. The Mayor cow, of the Simmental breed, has a live weight of 1,050 kilograms, a height of around 160 centimetres, and is three years old. The selection of Prabowo’s sacrifice animal was based on a rigorous screening against health, weight, and height standards set by the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres).
“Alhamdulilah I am happy and proud that my cow named Mayor could be selected as the president’s sacrifice animal. This is the first on the list and selected,” said Dede when interviewed on Tuesday (19 May 2026).
He initially bought the cow at the age of two from a breeder in Lembang, Bandung Barat. Since then Mayor has been maintained like other cows to stay healthy and fertile, including routine check-ups, vitamins and multivitamins, and daily care such as washing and feeding with greens and concentrates.
“The feed is the same as for other cows. Mainly good grass and concentrate; alhamdulillah the cow is healthy,” said Dede.
The jumbo cow was then registered to be a sacrifice animal to be donated to President Prabowo and eventually selected after a series of selection stages and health checks, including blood tests, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) checks, Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) checks, and faecal examinations, with results deemed healthy and fit for the president’s sacrifice.
