Mayor of Medan Asks Civil Servants Not to Extend Eid al-Fitr Holiday in 2026
“I ask ASN to return to work according to the provisions,” Medan (ANTARA) - Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Waas has requested civil servants (ASN) in the local city government not to extend the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026. “I ask ASN to return to work according to the provisions,” said Rico Waas in Medan on Sunday. The Mayor stated that the holiday for civil servants set by the government is already quite long, leaving no reason to extend it. Therefore, Rico Waas asked all employees in the city government he leads to comply with those rules. “The holiday is already long enough; do not extend it,” he said. Previously, the Head of the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency of Medan City, Subhan Fajri, stated that civil servants in the local city government are required to return to work on 25 March 2026. Subhan explained that the holiday period for all civil servants during Eid al-Fitr 2026 will last seven days, starting from 18 March to 24 March. “Those who do not return will face applicable sanctions,” said Subhan. Although he did not specify the sanctions, Subhan said that the Mayor of Medan’s circular on the 2026 holiday has been communicated to all city government employees. “We will conduct surprise inspections and visit regional apparatus,” he said.
