Mayor Inspects Search Site for Civil Servant Missing in Bogor River, Ensures Maximum Effort
Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim directly inspected the search process for civil servant Bayu Zulkarnain, who went missing and is believed to have fallen into the Cisadane River in Pamoyanan sub-district, Bogor City. Dedie assured that the joint SAR team is maximising the search until Bayu is found.
“Yes, we are still making every effort so that Mr Bayu, who is believed to have gone missing in the Cisadane River flow in the Pamoyanan area, can be found soon, because we have entered the fourth day,” said Dedie after inspecting the location on Sunday (16/8/2026).
“Formally, we must carry out the operation to the maximum for seven days, and we have already done four days. But as of this afternoon, at 4.23 pm, there has been no result,” he added.
Dedie said there is little chance that Bayu was swept away by the current if he fell into the river. According to him, the water level is low and there are many nets in the downstream area.
“For now, the chance of him being swept away is small, because the weather is in the dry season and the water level is relatively low. That is why we are trying to concentrate here first. So we are maximising efforts here first; if he is not found today, we will try to shift the operation strategy downstream,” said Dedie.
Dedie said his office has also encouraged the family to file a report with the police regarding Bayu Zulkarnain’s disappearance. This is an effort to anticipate other possibilities concerning Bayu.
“Yes, we are also trying to encourage the family to file a police report. That has been done, a report to the police. For it to be investigated, perhaps there is something else beyond our expectation or presumption that the person concerned fell here,” said Dedie.
It was previously reported that a Bogor City Government civil servant went missing after allegedly falling into the Cisadane River. On the fourth day of the search, the victim had still not been found.
Observations at the location on Sunday (16/8) showed the joint SAR team still carrying out search efforts for Bayu Zulkarnaen (36), a civil servant at the Bogor City Archives and Library Office, who has been missing since Thursday (13/8) evening. Bayu is believed to have fallen from a bridge into the Cisadane River while on his way home by motorbike.
Joint SAR personnel conducted sweeps using rubber boats around the location. Meanwhile, directly under the bridge, believed to be the first location where the victim fell, personnel carried out dives.
The diving method was carried out for the second time since this morning. The search process was also witnessed by a number of residents.
