Mayor Farhan: Robbers Targeting Couriers in Bandung City Are More Than Just Muggers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has praised the police’s prompt action in arresting a group of muggers targeting a package courier on Jalan Maksudi, Panjunan Ward, Astanaanyar District, Bandung City, on Sunday (3/5/2026). He suspects the group intended to create a sense of insecurity. “I am very grateful to the police for handling it quickly,” he stated on Monday (4/5/2026). He believes the muggers who targeted the package courier are not just ordinary muggers. Instead, his side suspects the perpetrators are part of a criminal group aiming to make Bandung unsafe. “The goal is to eliminate the sense of security in Bandung City,” he said. Nevertheless, he noted that the city government is working with the police to address the issue.
