Mayling to become professor

JAKARTA: Mayling Oey-Gardiner will become the first female professor in the school of economics at the University of Indonesia when she is installed on Oct. 20.

She is scheduled to deliver a paper on gender discrimination before the university senate at Salemba campus, Central Jakarta.

The speech is entitled: Breaking the glass ceiling: Slow but unavoidable.

Mayling's expertise as a researcher is in the area of economic demography with a focus on women's issues.-JP
