The Sharia Unit of PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk has won the Excellence in Islamic Banking Literacy and Inclusion Award at the Anugerah Syariah Republika (ASR) 2026. The award was given for the unit’s efforts to expand Islamic financial literacy and public access to sharia financial services. The jury assessed that Maybank Syariah does not treat Islamic financial literacy merely as a corporate social responsibility programme. Instead, education is part of its business strategy, implemented through an ecosystem-based approach to boost Islamic financial inclusion. One notable innovation is the development of the Sharia Wealth Management concept. Through this approach, public education is accompanied by the provision of Islamic financial products and services, enabling the public not only to understand but also to utilise them. Collaboration with various halal ecosystems further strengthens this effort. The combination of education, product development, and expanded service access was considered an added value that led Maybank Syariah to receive the award. Head of Sharia Community Financial Service Maybank, Dandy Suprandono, expressed appreciation for the award. He said the recognition serves as encouragement for Maybank Syariah to continue increasing its contribution to the development of the Islamic economy in Indonesia. ‘This award motivates us to continue improving and making a greater contribution to Indonesia, particularly in the development of the Islamic economy,’ Dandy said after receiving the award at Soehanna Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.
