Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) and Muslim Pro, a Singapore-based developer of Muslim lifestyle apps, have collaborated to launch the Amanah Pro financial app to help the public prepare for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage journeys.

“The launch of Amanah Pro is part of our initiative to continue strengthening services in the sharia financial industry,” said Maybank Indonesia President Director Steffano Ridwan in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that the app’s development is a flagship initiative of the company’s transformation efforts, aligning with Maybank Indonesia’s five-year strategy.

He stated that Amanah Pro is a sharia banking technology platform based on Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), which enables non-bank partners to offer banking services easily and flexibly, including Umrah and Hajj savings.

Through the BaaS model, Muslim Pro, as Maybank Indonesia’s partner, can provide sharia financial services to users as part of their daily digital ecosystem.

“We believe sharia financial services will be able to provide the greatest benefits not only to the Muslim community but to all Indonesian society,” said Steffano Ridwan.

The launch of the financial app has received appreciation from regulators, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI).

They assess that the app can also strengthen financial inclusion and digital sharia banking services in Indonesia, as well as accelerate the sharia financial market as one of the catalysts for national economic growth.

“These services (sharia banking) are also expected to strengthen the role and contribution of the financial sector to inclusive, sustainable, and equitable economic growth in order to improve the standard of living of the people, reduce economic inequality, and demonstrate a prosperous, advanced, and dignified Indonesia,” said Ressita Nugrahaeni.

In agreement, Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI, Mohamad Hekal, welcomed the presence of the banking app as an effort to optimise the national sharia financial market, considering that Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world.

He hopes that this step can increase inclusivity and strengthen national sharia banking services, thereby contributing to the realisation of the government’s Asta Cita.

“Our hope is, of course, that Indonesia can realise Asta Cita to achieve welfare for all Indonesian people with economic growth that certainly requires support from the banking sector,” added Mohamad Hekal.
