Mayapada Hospital Tangerang Expansion Nears Final Construction Stage
Mayapada Hospital Tangerang (MHTG), a hospital unit under Mayapada Healthcare, has held a topping-off ceremony for its fourth building as part of an expansion of its facilities. Ten months after construction began in December 2025, the new building has reached the topping-off stage, and is expected to begin operating in the first quarter of 2027.
The expansion is a strategic step by Mayapada Healthcare to strengthen MHTG’s role as a cancer referral centre in Banten, through the development of more advanced, comfortable and integrated oncology services, covering early detection, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. The additional building will have a floor area of 7,643 square metres, comprising nine floors and one basement level.
Most of the space will be dedicated to an Oncology Centre providing integrated cancer services, from early detection and diagnosis to treatment planning, treatment and follow-up care. The facility will include nuclear medicine services supporting advanced diagnostic examinations such as Digital PET scans, which can help assess the spread of cancer and monitor treatment responses.
Other facilities will include mammography, oncology outpatient clinics, outpatient chemotherapy and dedicated inpatient rooms for cancer patients. Services will also be integrated with radiotherapy using a Linear Accelerator (LINAC), which has been available since 2023. MHTG says it is the first hospital in Banten to offer this technology.
The integrated cancer services will be supported by a Tumour Board, where specialist and sub-specialist doctors collaborate to determine appropriate treatment, and Patient Navigators, who will guide patients and their families through each stage of care to make it more coordinated and straightforward.
Mayapada Healthcare President Commissioner Jonathan Tahir said the expansion was not merely an additional building, but a long-term strategic investment to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s healthcare services.
“As the need to treat increasingly complex cancers grows, we continue to develop the hospital’s capacity and capabilities so that more patients can receive internationally standard healthcare at home. With this development, we are confident that Mayapada Hospital Tangerang can strengthen its role as a cancer referral centre in Banten,” Jonathan said in a statement on Friday (23 October 2026).
Mayapada Healthcare President Director and CEO Navin Sonthalia said the MHTG expansion was an important step in strengthening clinical capabilities, particularly cancer services and other centres of excellence, through the use of advanced medical technology, improved healthcare workforce skills and international strategic partnerships.
“Treating cancer and other complex medical cases requires more than advanced technology: it also takes medical expertise and strong collaboration across specialities. We are therefore integrating the new facilities with services already available in MHTG’s three buildings, so that patient care can be more comprehensive and coordinated. We are also continuing to improve the capabilities of doctors and healthcare workers through strategic partnerships, including with Apollo Hospitals India. This includes the transfer of medical expertise, development of sub-specialist services and the adoption of evidence-based medicine to support cancer care to international standards,” Navin said.
Mayapada Hospital Tangerang Hospital Director Dr Nurhidayati Endah Puspita Sari said the trust placed in the hospital by people in Tangerang and Banten for more than 17 years had motivated it to continue developing its facilities and improving service quality in line with their needs. The new building strengthens its commitment to patient-centred care, with more comprehensive and integrated healthcare intended to make the experience easier and more comfortable for patients and their families.
“We understand that the cancer treatment journey is not simple. That is why the Oncology Centre at MHTG has been designed so patients can undergo various stages of examination and treatment in one facility that is more comfortable and coordinated. The expansion of family healthcare services will also enable people to access a range of care in one hospital complex. We are confident that the new MHTG building will soon be able to serve the community and give us renewed impetus to strengthen synergy and collaboration in providing comprehensive care for patients and families in Tangerang and Banten,” Dr Ita said.
