May Day protesters present anti-war symbols at DPR building
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Protesters at the International Labour Day (May Day) rally presented unique anti-war symbols, including a mock ballistic missile inscribed with “Stop War” and a statue of US President Donald Trump, as a form of criticism during the demonstration in front of the MPR/DPR RI building on Friday, which proceeded peacefully. ANTARA’s observations at the site at 4:00 p.m. WIB noted that the mock ballistic missile was made from cardboard, painted red on the body and yellow on the nose section. On the body of the “missile,” there was the writing “Stop War,” meaning stop the war. Meanwhile, there was also a statue of US President Donald Trump made from cardboard with a black plastic coating resembling a suit. The statue depicted Trump’s face in red with yellow hair. In addition, a headless statue was placed behind Trump, facing the MPR/DPR RI office. The artwork was positioned in front of the crowd from various groups gathered at the gate of the MPR/DPR RI building. The protesters continuously voiced their aspirations. Students, labour unions, and civil alliances were visibly present in the action. Light drizzle fell briefly, but it did not last long. Although the day began to darken, the protesters refused to disperse. Until 5:07 p.m. WIB, the action was still proceeding peacefully.
