May Day Participants at Monas to Wear Special T-Shirts Designed by Prabowo

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Participants in the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration at Monas on Friday (1/5/2026) will wear T-shirts directly designed by President Prabowo Subianto.

President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), who is also part of the May Day organising committee, Andi Gani Nena Wea, stated that the T-shirts feature a gradient of cream, blue, and white colours.

According to Andi Gani, the initiative to create the T-shirts came directly from President Prabowo during their meeting in early March 2026.

“That’s when he directly said, ‘Andi, I don’t want the workers to get too hot. I want something from me to be conveyed to the workers,’” he continued, quoting the President’s words.

Andi then asked about the form of support that would be provided.

President Prabowo expressed his desire to provide T-shirts that the workers could wear during the May Day commemoration.

In addition to the T-shirts, President Prabowo also suggested providing umbrellas to the workers to anticipate the heat during the event.

“There will be words of struggle on the umbrellas. And the colours will mostly feature red and white. As for the T-shirt colours, I can share: cream, with blue and white,” explained Andi Gani.

He revealed that the process of determining the T-shirt design was quite intensive.

Andi explained that the T-shirts will feature the text “May Day” accompanied by illustrations of workers’ struggles, as well as a sentence that comes directly from President Prabowo.

However, he was not yet willing to reveal the details of the message’s content.

“It’s a secret. On Friday, then. So there are illustrations of the May Day struggle, followed by words that come straight from his mouth,” he said.
