BOGOR - The Puncak area in Bogor Regency, West Java, is expected to see an increase in vehicle volume during the long holiday for International Labour Day or May Day on Friday (1/5/2026). Although the odd-even (Gage) restriction based on number plates is typically enforced, the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of Bogor Police Resort has confirmed that the rule will be temporarily suspended for this weekend. The Deputy Head of Traffic Operations (KBO) of Satlantas Polres Bogor, Iptu Ardian Noviantasari, explained that the police’s security focus is currently divided with the Labour Day commemoration agenda. Although access to Puncak has been normalised from the odd-even rule, the police are still preparing other traffic engineering measures. This is done to prevent total congestion if there is a surge in vehicle flow from Jakarta to Bogor or vice versa. Ardian emphasised that the one-way scheme remains the primary weapon in alleviating density on that tourist route. The police urge drivers to continue obeying traffic signs and following directions from officers on the ground. Considering the unpredictable weather in the mountainous area, drivers are also asked to ensure their physical condition and vehicle mechanics are optimal before travelling.
