May Day: Harmonious Industrial Relations Key to Attracting Investment in the Region

Purwokerto (ANTARA) - The Banyumas Regency Government in Central Java is encouraging strengthened collaboration between workers and entrepreneurs to realise industrial progress and enhanced worker welfare in the commemoration of International Labour Day (May Day) 2026, observed annually on 1 May. During the May Day event held in the courtyard of Pendopo Si Panji, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, on Friday, Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono stated that harmonious industrial relations are the primary key to creating a conducive investment climate in the region. “The May Day commemoration is not merely a ceremony, but a momentum to build healthy industrial relations that mutually strengthen each other,” he said. He appreciated all workers in Banyumas for their contributions in driving the wheels of the local economy. According to him, workers play an important role in supporting business continuity while attracting investor interest. Regarding the 2026 May Day commemoration in Banyumas, which carries the theme “Collaboration Together to Realise Industrial Progress and Worker Welfare”, the Regent hopes that the theme serves as a reminder that industrial progress cannot be separated from the role of prosperous workers and harmonious industrial relations. In his report, the Head of the Manpower and Industry Office (Disnakerin) of Banyumas Regency, Wahyu Dewanto, stated that the 2026 May Day commemoration becomes a momentum to strengthen collaboration in improving worker welfare and industrial progress in the area. “Our hope is that industrial relations become increasingly harmonious and worker welfare improves,” he said. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Banyumas 2026 May Day Committee, Sumbadi, stated that the International Labour Day commemoration in the region proceeded peacefully and productively thanks to the collaboration between the government, entrepreneurs, and workers. He acknowledged that labour issues still exist, but they can be resolved through good communication between parties.
