JAKARTA – The International Labour Day or May Day commemoration on Friday (1/5/2026) is estimated to be attended by around 400,000 people from the labour community and online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers.

President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPSI), who is also part of the May Day organising committee, Andi Gani Nena Wea, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is confirmed to attend the event.

He mentioned that President Prabowo will deliver several policies related to worker welfare, including issues concerning online motorcycle taxis and the ratification of the ILO.

“What is the surprise? Let the President himself announce it. He will address matters related to online motorcycle taxis, ILO ratification, and several policies for worker welfare,” he said.

“After the President’s speech, Mr Prabowo will invite all the confederation presidents present on the main stage to join him in singing struggle songs,” Andi Gani explained.

The songs to be sung include the “Internationale”, known as the international labour struggle anthem, as well as several other national songs.

According to Andi Gani, the Friday prayer will be led by a national figure as the imam and khatib, although the identity has not yet been revealed.

“The Friday prayer will be led by a national figure as imam and khatib. After the Friday prayer, the event will resume. The event is expected to conclude at 5:00 PM WIB,” Andi clarified.

There will be three gates opened as access points for the masses attending the May Day commemoration.
