JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The state-owned enterprise PT Perum Bulog distributed 350,000 food aid packages during the commemoration of International Labour Day at the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).

PT Perum Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that the distribution of the aid was in line with instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.

“We at Bulog, in accordance with the President’s directives, coordinated the preparation of 350,000 food packages intended for our brothers and sisters, fellow workers observing International Labour Day,” Rizal said at Monas on Friday.

According to Rizal, the aid is a special gesture from Prabowo for the Labour Day commemoration.

“This is extraordinary support from the President; hopefully, it will continue in the days ahead,” Rizal remarked.

The retired TNI General stated that the aid is sourced from the State Secretariat (Setneg) budget.

Meanwhile, Bulog and other state-owned food enterprises, ID Food, are tasked with preparing and distributing the aid packages.

“(The budget is from) the State Secretariat. We at Bulog are only preparing it,” Rizal explained.

He revealed that Bulog and ID Food prepared hundreds of thousands of aid packages together with DKI Jakarta’s Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) over three days before Labour Day.

Through this aid, the government hopes to maintain the purchasing power of the community, especially the worker group.

“We want to ensure that workers still have access to sufficient and affordable food,” Rizal stated.

Kompas.com observations at the location showed that the Monas area was crowded with masses of workers from various regions, including districts outside Jakarta.

They queued for the aid prepared on dozens of trucks in the Monas area.
