PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that during the long weekend from 13 to 17 May 2026, a total of 960,893 customers utilised long-distance and local train services managed by KAI across the islands of Java and Sumatra. Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, expressed appreciation for the high level of public trust in choosing rail services for their travels during the extended holiday period.

“The long weekend atmosphere for the Ascension of Jesus Christ from 13–17 May 2026 brought high levels of public mobility across various regions,” Anne stated in an official release on Monday (18/5/2026). Amidst this high mobility, trains have become a preferred travel option, providing a comfortable and efficient way for the public to travel.

“High public mobility was well-served thanks to the support of our customers and the dedication of all KAI Group personnel, who continue to maintain services to ensure journeys are safe, comfortable, and on time,” Anne added. She further noted that the high volume of passengers during the long weekend demonstrates the strengthening role of railways in supporting community activities and the domestic tourism sector.
