Maximum Limit for Purchasing Subsidised Fuel from 1 April 2026: Rules and Details
The government has officially implemented new regulations regarding the maximum limit for purchasing subsidised fuel starting 1 April 2026. This policy has drawn attention because it not only regulates distribution but also restricts the amount of subsidised fuel that can be purchased at fuel stations. On the other hand, fuel prices effective 1 April 2026 sold by PT Pertamina (Persero) are confirmed to remain unchanged, for both subsidised and non-subsidised types. This combination of policies is expected to keep energy distribution on target while ensuring supplies remain secure amid global dynamics. The government has stipulated that private four-wheeled vehicles are only permitted to purchase subsidised fuel up to a maximum of 50 litres per day per vehicle. Meanwhile, public transport vehicles such as buses and trucks receive more leeway due to their greater operational needs. “The 50-litre limit applies to private cars. It does not apply to trucks or buses because their needs are greater,” said Bahlil during an online press conference from Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). The subsidised fuel purchase limit policy is also part of the government’s efforts to encourage more efficient and non-excessive energy use.
