SEMARANG — Taking the practical test for a Driver’s Licence (SIM) is a mandatory step for all applicants before being deemed fit to drive on public roads. However, many candidates fail the practical test due to various factors, from inadequate preparation to technical errors while driving. What is the maximum number of times applicants can retake the practical driving test if they don’t pass?

“According to Article 19 (4) of Regulation No. 5 of 2021, applicants who fail the practical test are allowed two retakes within 14 working days from the day after failing,” Prianggo told Kompas.com recently. This means applicants who fail the first attempt still have two chances to retake the test without needing to re-register.
