Ride-hailing platform Maxim has officially launched its electric vehicle service, Car EV, in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek). The launch aims to support the reduction of pollution and promote a cleaner urban environment through green technology. Currently, over 4,000 electric vehicles have been registered in Maxim’s system across Indonesia, with a portion already operating in Jabodetabek and more to be introduced gradually as the service expands to other cities. Driver partners will benefit from a significantly lower and more favourable commission rate.

Jabodetabek was selected as the initial launch area to serve as a challenging testing ground due to its dense traffic, high temperatures, and congestion, allowing Maxim to ensure the technology’s reliability before a wider rollout. There is a slightly higher tariff for the Car EV service compared to conventional car services, attributed to the currently limited charging infrastructure in Indonesia. Despite this, passengers and drivers gain advantages such as a quieter cabin, minimal vibration, and zero emissions, particularly during peak hours.

Maxim’s Development Director, Dirhamsyah, stated that the development of the Car EV service is also driven by cost efficiency. Electric vehicles help drivers save on fuel and maintenance costs since they do not require oil changes, belts, or spark plugs. Furthermore, a growing number of passengers are choosing environmentally friendly vehicles through the app, thereby increasing demand for EV services. The first trip for the Car EV service was recorded using a VinFast VF e34, travelling from an industrial port area on Jalan Enggano, Tanjung Priok, to Sotis Hotel on Jalan Falatehan I in the Kebayoran Baru business district of Central Jakarta.

A Maxim EV driver partner, Robi, shared his experience, saying he was initially worried about the battery running out on the road but found reassurance in the car’s charging station map and the ability to charge from a home electrical outlet. He now feels comfortable using the electric car and encourages fellow drivers to try it. Maxim confirmed that the current number of EVs is just the beginning, with registrations increasing daily. The company plans to expand the EV fleet and gradually introduce the service to other regions in Indonesia by the end of the year, after gathering sufficient operational data from Jabodetabek. The Car EV service is currently available in Regular and Premium options, and Maxim continues to welcome new driver partners through the Taxsee Driver app.
