Mauricio Souza Defends Andritany After Conceding Two Goals Against Malut

KOMPAS.com - Persija Jakarta coach, Mauricio Souza, has defended goalkeeper Andritany Ardhiyasa, who conceded two goals against Malut United.

According to him, the two goals conceded by Persija were not solely Andritany’s fault but rather a consequence of the playing style adopted by both teams.

Persija Jakarta successfully returned home with three points after winning 3-2 against Malut United in the continuation of week 23 of the 2025-2026 Super League.

The match between Malut United and Persija Jakarta was held at the Gelora Kie Raha Stadium, Ternate, on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

In that match, Macan Kemayoran won with three goals from Alaeddine Ajaraie (8’), Jordi Amat (29’), and Fabio Calonego (80’).

Persija actually had the opportunity to score more than three goals. However, Mauricio Souza’s team missed several opportunities to increase their goal tally in this match.

Fortunately, Laskar Kie Raha was only able to score two goals in this match and did not manage to equalize in the final minutes.

Nevertheless, Andritany admitted that there were mistakes he made, which ultimately led to Persija conceding two goals.

However, he sees this as material for evaluation to improve in the future.

“As a goalkeeper, perhaps the coach will be able to analyze whether I could have come out in those two goals to intercept the ball or not.”

“But that is also part of my responsibility, part of self-evaluation for the next games,” he said.

Hearing his goalkeeper’s comments, Mauricio Souza immediately offered his defense.

For him, Andritany has shown his best performance and he is satisfied with the result.
