The gunungan procession in Tangerang City was lively. Thousands of residents enthusiastically paraded from Masjid Al Azhom on Jalan Satria Sudirman and Masjid Kali Pasir on Jalan Kali Pasir towards Masjid Al Ittihad on Jalan Kiasnawi, the centre of the Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW commemoration.

Tangerang Mayor H. Sachrudin, accompanied by Deputy Mayor H. Maryono, Regional Secretary H. Herman Suwarman, and other Tangerang City Government officials, mingled with the public during the procession.

Sachrudin said the Maulid Nabi commemoration is not merely a religious tradition but a momentum to strengthen Islamic outreach, love for the Prophet Muhammad, and brotherhood and fellowship within society.

“Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW, besides commemorating the birth of the Prophet, also affirms our love for him. May this commemoration bring blessings and encourage us to know and emulate his character more deeply,” Sachrudin said on Tuesday (25/8).

The festive procession, he continued, is a clear reflection of community togetherness in welcoming the Maulid Nabi. People from various backgrounds walked together, recited salawat, and celebrated the Maulid in a shared spirit of unity.

“Here we walk, recite salawat, and celebrate the Maulid together. When Islamic outreach is built on togetherness, God willing, its blessings will be even wider,” he said.

This year’s Maulid Nabi commemoration was very lively, he added, as the event was held from Masjid Al Azhom and Masjid Kali Pasir, culminating at Masjid Agung Al Ittihad in the Pasar Lama area.

Sachrudin also urged the public not to stop at the festivities but to make the Prophet’s exemplary values a guide in daily life, from guarding speech and conduct, respecting neighbours, wisely addressing differences, to helping those in need.

“This is how we bring the Prophet’s teachings into life. Nobility is not limited to position, but how much benefit we can give to others,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor H. Maryono and Regional Secretary H. Herman Suwarman said the involvement of the Tangerang City Government was a form of togetherness in enlivening the Maulid while preserving religious traditions and strengthening ties with the community.

“We recite salawat and celebrate the Maulid together. May this togetherness be maintained and the Prophet’s example be ever more present in our lives,” Maryono said.

This tradition, he continued, is not just a celebration but one that must be preserved and passed on to the younger generation. At the peak of the Maulid Nabi event centred at Masjid Al Ittihad, attendees were served 3,000 portions of nasi kebuli to eat together as an expression of gratitude, strengthening togetherness and fellowship.

In addition, gunungan containing vegetables, drinks, fruits and other items were presented to the public. They appeared to scramble for the items with laughter and joy.
