Suherlan Maulana, a civil servant (ASN) participating in the Basic Military Training for Reserve Components (Latsarmil Komcad), admitted that he was initially not permitted by his wife to join the programme.

“At first, it was very difficult because my wife and children were reluctant and unsupportive,” said Maulana during a break in the Latsarmil Komcad activities at Baseops Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Maulana explained that his wife did not approve of his participation in Latsarmil Komcad because the programme lasts for 1.5 months, requiring him to be away from his family for a considerable period.

Gradually, his close ones softened, and he received the green light to become a Komcad participant.

“But by providing understanding, eventually my parents, children, and wife supported and accepted it,” said the ASN from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Moreover, during the training, his family is still allowed to visit, which makes Maulana feel more at ease in undergoing the programme.

He also went through a one-week selection process and was finally chosen as one of the 1,773 ASN participants in Latsarmil Komcad.

In the future, Maulana will undergo education at the educational institution (lemdik) of Wing Pendidikan (Wingdik) 500 Atang Senjaya, Bogor Regency, West Java.

He emphasised that his participation is voluntary through the Ministry of Social Affairs, with the requirement that participants are ready and under 35 years old.

For the man from Sukabumi, joining Komcad is not just about undergoing military training, but an opportunity to shape himself to become better.

“Hopefully, by participating in Komcad, I will become more disciplined in my performance, especially when needed by the state, I will be ready,” said Maulana.

Starting from Wednesday this day, 1,773 civil servants (ASN) from various ministries and institutions have begun undergoing Latsarmil Komcad at several locations.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the 1,773 ASN were selected from 2,115 people who registered to join Komcad.

The basic military training is being held at six locations: the National Intelligence Agency’s Communication Centre, the Jayakarta Military Region Main Regiment, the Indonesian Army Health Education Centre, Infantry Brigade 1 Marine Troops 1, the Air Force Doctrine Development Command’s Language Centre, Education and Training, and Wing Pendidikan 500/General Atang Sendjaja.

The Komcad basic military training begins on 22 April 2026, and participants who pass will be appointed as Komcad members on 5 June 2026.
