Matsushita, Seiko Epson up RI output

JAKARTA: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Seiko Epson
Corp. plan to work together to raise the volume of parts and
components they procure in Indonesia, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun
reported in its Wednesday edition.

Three Indonesian joint ventures in which the two companies
have stakes make washing machines, refrigerators, air
conditioners, televisions, printers and other products. The joint
ventures recently held a meeting with local suppliers wishing to
do business with them.

The companies plan to disclose to foreign and domestic
suppliers lists of the parts and materials their Indonesian
factories purchase from other countries. This will make it easier
for them to develop relationships with local companies that might
be able to supply the same goods. -- Dow Jones
