Matraman Police Hunt Suspect in PPSU Bidara Cina Stabbing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Matraman Sector Police (Polsek Matraman) are currently pursuing the suspect in the stabbing of a Penanganan Prasarana dan Sarana Umum (PPSU) officer from Bidara Cina Sub-district, East Jakarta, identified as Endri (52).
“We are currently conducting efforts to locate the suspect,” said AKP Eko Bayu, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of Polsek Jatinegara, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Eko confirmed that they have identified the stabbing suspect in Endri.
Based on preliminary investigations, Eko said, the suspect has not been living with his parents in the Bidara Cina area for quite some time. However, the suspect is said to frequently come to the area to gather with friends.
According to him, the police are continuing to gather evidence and strengthen witness testimonies to speed up the case’s disclosure.
“So far, four witnesses have been questioned, and the item of evidence that has been secured is the victim’s shirt,” Eko said.
Meanwhile, East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin lamented the stabbing incident affecting the PPSU officer. He urged that the legal process be conducted in accordance with procedures and handed over entirely to the police.
“Of course the police should carry out the standard operating procedure (SOP). So continue to ask the police to act in accordance with the rules. That has entered the realm of crime, so it must be resolved through the police,” Munjirin said when contacted separately.
The East Jakarta City Government also hopes the perpetrator will be promptly arrested so the case can be resolved quickly and provide security for the public and for PPSU officers working in the field.
One PPSU officer from Bidara Cina Sub-district, Jatinegara, East Jakarta (Jaktim), named Endri (52), was stabbed after admonishing visitors in the area of the Bidara Cina Office.
“Yes, I was stabbed after I cautioned the perpetrator who was heading to the Bidara Cina Village Office,” Endri said in Jakarta, on Friday (15/5).
The incident occurred on Thursday (14/5) at around 05:00 WIB.
The victim had just finished sweeping several road sections, including Jalan Otista Raya, before returning to the village office to take attendance and rest briefly with colleagues on duty.
According to Endri, the incident began when a teenager entered the office area without removing his footwear.
Seeing this, he admonished him politely to maintain the cleanliness of the area that had just been cleaned.
However, the admonition apparently triggered the perpetrator’s anger. Endri said the offender immediately hurled harsh words and did not accept the admonition.
Then the situation escalated and a beating occurred.
As a result, Endri sustained several serious injuries, including wounds to the right thigh, temple, and swollen lips.
