Mataram Transportation Department Assures Free Bus Service Unaffected by Fuel Efficiency Measures
The Mataram City Transportation Department (Dishub) has assured that the free bus programme will continue to operate amid fuel efficiency efforts. The operational service of the two free bus fleets for Mataram residents will also remain on schedule. “It is unaffected; the free buses will continue to operate for the people of Mataram,” said the Head of the Mataram City Transportation Department, Zulkarwin, on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The free public transport service in Mataram has been operational since November 2025. The service is mostly utilised by schoolchildren during the morning routes, while the afternoon to evening routes are more commonly used by the general public. The free bus service operates from Monday to Saturday. There are two shifts for the free bus service on Monday to Thursday: from 06:30 to 10:30 WITA and the second shift from 13:00 to 15:00 WITA. On Friday to Saturday, it only serves one shift from 06:30 to 12:00 WITA. The free bus route starts from Jalan Lingkar Selatan, then to UIN Mataram Campus, Muhammadiyah Campus, Pagesangan Market, Kekalik, Epicentrum Mall, STIE AMM Mataram Campus, Sangkareang Park, Islamic Center, Udayana Terrace, to the former Selaparang Airport. “It remains free, unaffected (by fuel efficiency),” Zulkarwin added. It is known that echelon II officials of the Mataram City Government are now simultaneously cycling or pedalling to the office. This cycling policy aims to support fuel efficiency. The pedalling policy began to be implemented from last Monday (6/4).
