Mataram Tourism Office Seals Stalls for Unpaid Rent in Loang Baloq
The Mataram Tourism Office (Dispar) has begun taking firm action against vendors who have defaulted on stall rental payments. Several stalls in the Loang Baloq tourist area have been sealed, coinciding with the sluggish realisation of tourism levies in the first quarter of 2026.
This step was taken after many vendors had not yet settled their rental obligations since the beginning of the year. The situation has also pressured the achievement of levies that remain far from the target.
Head of Dispar Mataram, Cahya Samudra, stated that the sealing was carried out in accordance with procedures as an effort to increase Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD).
“We are implementing the leadership’s directive to be firm in increasing PAD. The sealing was done according to procedure. After the sealing, some vendors immediately paid their arrears,” said Cahya on Friday (24/4/2026).
Cahya revealed that the total arrears from food stall vendors in Loang Baloq Park amounted to Rp 450,000. According to him, this action serves as a harsh warning to other vendors not to neglect their stall rental obligations on government-owned land.
“This proves that the government is serious about optimising PAD,” he explained.
Based on data from Dispar Mataram, rental rates for stalls in the Loang Baloq tourist area vary. Food stalls in the southern section are charged Rp 450,000 per month, while souvenir stalls in the northern section are set at Rp 300,000 per month.
As of April 2026, the realisation of tourism sector levies has only reached Rp 200 million, or about 13 percent of the Rp 800 million target.
“This year’s target is the same as the previous year, Rp 800 million. We are optimistic about catching up to the target this year,” Cahya added.
Previously, the Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD) of Mataram City up to March 2026 was recorded at Rp 130 billion, or 19.91 percent of the Rp 656 billion target. The Mataram City Government is optimistic that PAD achievements can be boosted through contributions from various regional apparatus organisations (OPD) until the end of the year.
“From (the target of) Rp 656 billion, only Rp 130 billion more has been realised, equivalent to 19.91 percent as of March 2026,” said Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Agency (BKD) of Mataram City, Muhamad Ramayoga, previously.
