The Mataram city government in West Nusa Tenggara Province has received an extra allocation of 30,620 subsidised 3kg LPG cylinders to anticipate demand during the Maulid Nabi 1448 Hijriah/2026 celebrations.

“With this extra dropping allocation, we are ensuring that the supply of 3kg LPG remains safe and sufficient to anticipate the surge in public demand ahead of the Maulid celebration,” said Sri Wahyunida, Head of the Basic and Essential Commodities Division at the Mataram Trade Office, on Wednesday.

She said Mataram received the extra allocation because the city had submitted a proposal well in advance to Pertamina and Hiswana Migas to continue distribution on national holidays, in anticipation of increased demand during Maulid.

“Alhamdulillah, our proposal was approved and shipments were already made on 17 August 2026,” she said.

She explained that the 30,620 cylinders of extra dropping allocation have begun to be distributed in stages, with 13,240 cylinders distributed on 17 August 2026.

The extra distribution for the Maulid celebration is divided into two special sessions to avoid shortages and panic among the public. The first session runs from 18 to 21 August with around 7,840 cylinders, followed by a second session from 27 to 29 August 2026 with an allocation of around 9,520 cylinders.

“We hope that with this additional quota, the needs of the public during Maulid can be met,” she said.

To ensure the extra quota is properly targeted, her office and other relevant authorities will tighten distribution oversight in coordination with Pertamina and Hiswana Migas.

“We have asked agents to distribute the cylinders to the right recipients so they are not exploited by unauthorised parties,” she said.
