The new student admissions system (SPMB) for public junior high schools in Mataram City for the 2026/2027 academic year offers four registration pathways tailored to different applicant circumstances: domicile, affirmation, achievement, and transfer. Each pathway has distinct requirements and selection mechanisms, making it essential for prospective students and parents to understand the rules to ensure a smooth registration process.

Domicile Pathway

This pathway is for new students residing within the school’s catchment area. Applicants must prove their domicile with a valid Family Card (Kartu Keluarga) issued at least one year before the SPMB registration date. Candidates may select up to two schools based on the designated zones. Selection considers the distance from the residence to the school, the applicant’s age, and the chronological order of document issuance or registration. Parents or guardians are required to attend a domicile coordinate verification session at a designated public junior high school. If a candidate fails to secure a place at either chosen school through this pathway, re-registration is only permitted according to the established mechanism and schedule.

Affirmation Pathway

This pathway is reserved for students from economically disadvantaged families and students with disabilities enrolling in inclusive schools. Economic need is verified solely through possession of a KIP (Indonesia Smart Card) or PKH (Family Hope Programme) card; BPJS, KIS, or SKTM cards are no longer accepted as proof. Disabled applicants must provide an official disability statement from an authorised body. If applications exceed the quota, selection will be based on distance and age.

Achievement Pathway

This pathway recognises academic, non-academic, and religious accomplishments, assessed according to technical guidelines.

Academic Achievement: Selection is based on an accumulation of report card grades for Indonesian Language, Mathematics, and Science (IPA/IPAS) from grades IV to VI, combined with an Academic Aptitude Test (TKA). In the event of tied scores, a higher TKA score takes precedence, followed by proximity of domicile to the school and the time of document submission.

Non-Academic Achievement: Applicants must present certificates or awards from competitions, either tiered or non-tiered, obtained during their primary school years and within their validity period. Both individual and team achievements are assessed according to the technical guidelines.

Religious Achievement: Candidates must provide evidence of religious accomplishments, such as certificates, letters of recommendation, or demonstrated abilities like memorisation of scriptures relevant to their faith.

Transfer Pathway

This pathway accommodates students relocating due to a parent’s work transfer or children of teachers. A valid official transfer letter from the parent’s institution or company, issued no more than one year prior, is required. Children of teachers may register at the school where their parent is employed.

Registration Process and Schedule

Registration is conducted online via the official portal spmbkotamataram.id. The process involves checking the selection schedule, selecting the appropriate pathway, entering the student’s NISN and date of birth, completing family data including the Family Card number and address, uploading required documents in JPEG, JPG, or PNG format (maximum 1024 KB), choosing target schools, approving the parental declaration, and saving the submission receipt.

The Achievement and Affirmation pathways will be open from 22 to 24 June 2026, while the Transfer and Domicile pathways will be open from 29 June to 1 July 2026.
