The Mataram City Fire and Rescue Department (Damkar) has proposed an increase in operational costs or meal allowances for its personnel. The proposal to raise the meal allowance is based on the high work risks faced by Damkar personnel.

Mataram Damkar Chief, Rudi Suryawan, stated that the current realisation of the meal allowance for Damkar personnel this year is Rp150,000 per month per person. Rudi described this amount as relatively small.

“It is small, but it is very noticeable for them. For next year, we request from the Mayor that it could be increased from Rp150,000 to Rp300,000 or whatever,” said Rudi in Mataram on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

According to Rudi, the needs for facilities and infrastructure (sarpras) at Damkar Mataram are already sufficient. Currently, Damkar Mataram has 10 vehicles ready for operation.

“Meanwhile, for personal protective equipment (APD) such as for evacuating bees, we already have everything. Alhamdulillah, last year’s procurement was adequate,” Rudi added.

Previously, the Mataram City Government (Pemkot) added two new fire trucks. The value of the two fire trucks amounts to Rp3.5 billion.

Head of Procurement and Control at Damkar Mataram, Multazam, hopes that the addition of the two new fire trucks can maximise Damkar Mataram’s operational work in handling fires. Currently, the total fleet owned by Damkar Mataram City consists of 10 vehicles.

“It is hoped that these two new fleets can provide space for fast, accurate, and safe services. We will be more optimal in prevention, extinguishing, and control,” explained Multazam.
