The Mataram City Government has received an incentive of Rp 10.5 billion following the achievement of four different national-level awards. Of this amount, Rp 1 billion has been allocated to the Mataram Education Office (Disdik).

The Head of the Matram Education Office, Yusuf, revealed that the Rp 1 billion incentive will be prioritised for improving sanitation facilities, specifically school toilets that have suffered heavy damage. According to Yusuf, the repair of these sanitation facilities aligns with the directives of the Mayor of Mataram, Mohan Roliskana.

“In accordance with the instructions from the Mayor, this must be utilised to improve sanitation. We will focus on repairing broken toilets and WCs, prioritising those in most urgent need,” Yusuf stated on Thursday (1/10/2026).

The sanitation improvement programme will target primary schools (SD) through to junior high schools (SMP). The implementation will be adjusted based on field conditions, ranging from the construction of new toilets to the rehabilitation of existing sanitation facilities.

“We will first conduct an analysis of the student-to-toilet ratio. This is also a priority. If the ratio is insufficient, new toilets will be built. However, if the ratio is adequate but the facilities are poor, we will carry out rehabilitations,” Yusuf explained.

Based on calculations by the Mataram Education Office, the sanitation improvement programme is expected to reach approximately ten to a dozen schools, including both primary and junior high levels. The priority institutions will be those whose sanitation facilities are deemed most minimal and in urgent need of repair.

As previously reported, the Mataram City Government received the Rp 10.5 billion incentive from the central government due to its success in securing several awards. The incentive will be utilised across various sectors.

The Mayor of Mataram, Mohan Roliskana, noted that the proposed use of the Rp 10.5 billion incentive has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

“The total allocation we received is Rp 10.5 billion. This will support priority sectors, in accordance with the categories of the awards achieved by the city,” said Mohan.

Mohan detailed that the Rp 10.5 billion incentive will be distributed as follows: Rp 2 billion for waste management and the environment, Rp 3 million for programme categories, Rp 6 billion for housing, Rp 1.5 billion for health services, and Rp 1 billion for the education sector.
