Mataram Customs conducted three enforcement actions against three trucks transporting illegal cigarettes, with a total of 3,903,040 sticks seized. These actions took place from 20 April to 8 May 2026.

The first action occurred on 20 April in Gerung Subdistrict, West Lombok Regency. In that operation, officers secured 1,440,000 illegal cigarette sticks transported in one truck.

A few days later, on 1 May, Mataram Customs again thwarted an illegal cigarette distribution attempt in Lembar Subdistrict, West Lombok Regency. In the second action, officers seized 1,568,000 illegal cigarette sticks.

Surveillance efforts continued with the third action on 8 May 2026 in the same area, Lembar Subdistrict. From that operation, officers secured another 1,003,040 illegal cigarette sticks.

“So the total seized goods amount to nearly 3.9 million sticks. All seized items are plain cigarettes without excise stamps,” said Head of Mataram Customs Office, Bambang Parwanto.

He expressed appreciation to various parties supporting the operation’s success, from the Central Customs Office, Regional Customs Offices of Bali, NTB, NTT, East Java I, Mataram Army Garrison, West Lombok Police Resort, to the West Lombok Regency Civil Service Police Unit.

According to Bambang, inter-agency synergy was a key factor in the success of the three major actions conducted in close succession. He emphasised that operations to eradicate illegal cigarettes will continue consistently and sustainably to create a healthy business climate for the tobacco industry compliant with excise regulations.
