The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy starting Friday, 10 April 2026. Civil servants (ASN) within the Pemkot Mataram scope who are inactive during WFH will face sanctions in the form of deductions to their Additional Employee Income (TPP).

“The sanctions are already in place and clear, with coordinate points and visible attendance. If anyone misbehaves, we will deduct their TPP. So they must remain active,” said the Secretary of the Regional Government (Sekda) of Mataram City, Lalu Alwan Basri, when confirmed on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Alwan explained that not all regional device organisations (OPD) within Pemkot Mataram will implement WFH every Friday. Based on the Circular Letter (SE) of the Mayor of Mataram, several OPDs exempt from WFH include structural officials such as echelon II and III officials, sub-district heads and village heads, health services, education services, population services, licensing services, cleanliness services, and disaster management services.

Employees in regional revenue services, public order and security services, territorial services, and public service units will also not be subject to WFH. On the other hand, Pemkot Mataram is also implementing resource and operational efficiency by limiting domestic official travel to a maximum of 50 per cent.

There will also be a limit on overseas travel to a maximum of 70 per cent and the use of official vehicles to a maximum of 50 per cent. Heads of regional devices are also asked to ensure that electronic devices, air conditioners, and lights in workrooms are turned off during WFH to promote energy efficiency.

In addition, based on the SE of the Mayor of Mataram, Pemkot Mataram echelon II to III employees are required to cycle or ride bicycles with zoning distance provisions. Officials residing within a 0-5 kilometre radius must fully use bicycles.

There are also employees with a radius of approximately 10 km who are asked to use a collection point system and will be directed to use special vehicles (shuttle). Meanwhile, employees with a radius of more than 10 km are permitted to use official vehicles with operational restrictions of a maximum of 50 per cent.

“Over the past few days, we have seen a significant impact from the use of bicycles. But we will review it more accurately after one month. I feel that (using bicycles) is very efficient in terms of fuel,” Alwan concluded.

The Head of the Mataram City BKPSDM, Taufik Priyono, emphasised that ASN subject to WFH will be closely monitored, including checking attendance levels through attendance records.

“There will be sanctions related to attendance deductions (TPP), directly deducted in the system,” Yoyok stressed.
