Mataram City Government Sends Dozens of Health Workers and Ambulance to Aid NTT Earthquake Victims

The Mataram City Government in West Nusa Tenggara has sent humanitarian aid to residents affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara. The assistance consists of medical personnel and one ambulance unit.

Director of Moh Ruslan Regional General Hospital, Eka Nurhayati, expressed hope that the deployment of the medical team and ambulance would support the evacuation and rescue process for victims at the disaster site. The medical team dispatched includes emergency department general practitioners, nurses, and ambulance drivers.

“We are sending medical assistance plus an ambulance,” said Eka when confirmed on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Eka stated that the medical team from Moh Ruslan Regional General Hospital Mataram will serve for 12 days at the disaster location. In addition to bringing medical equipment, the personnel have also been provided with special funds to help meet the urgent needs of local residents.

“We have also equipped them with money, in case it is needed there for donations to local residents,” she said.

Regarding the possibility of extending the duty period or sending a subsequent medical team, Eka said the decision would take into account conditions on the ground after the 12-day duty period concludes.

Meanwhile, Head of the Mataram City Health Office, Emirald Isfihan, explained that dozens of medical personnel from the Mataram area have been sent to East Nusa Tenggara to strengthen medical handling at the affected locations.

“For Mataram there are 43, from the Provincial Health Office there are 13 in total, then from Unram Hospital, and also from the Mataram City Regional General Hospital team,” said Emirald on Tuesday.

Although most are general medical personnel, Emirald noted that doctors with specialised expertise have also been deployed, particularly for emergency surgical treatment.

“There are indeed specialists, surgical specialists,” he revealed.

Previously, Mataram Mayor Mohan Roliskana said his administration was discussing concrete steps for distributing humanitarian aid to East Nusa Tenggara. In addition to sending health workers, the city government plans to involve students and representatives of the East Nusa Tenggara community residing in Mataram.

“As mentioned earlier, the idea is to send health workers, and we are currently considering the number,” said Mohan when confirmed on Monday (17/8/2026).

The fundraising effort will not only target internal bureaucratic circles such as civil servants in Mataram, but also the wider public. The aid is expected to ease the burden on earthquake victims in East Nusa Tenggara.

“As we did in Palu, we also carried out emergency response actions,” he explained.
