The City Government of Mataram will revitalise seven primary and junior high schools in Mataram City in 2026, with a total budget of Rp 2.2 billion.

There are seven schools being revitalised this year. Some schools will gain additional classrooms, while others will be renovated; for example SDN 44 Cakranegara, SDN 30 Cakranegara, and SMPN 17 Mataram, said Syarafudin, Head of the Basic Education Division of the Mataram City Education Office, in an interview on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Syarafudin enumerated the seven schools as SDN 44 Cakranegara, SDN 30 Cakranegara, SDN Model, and SDN 13 Ampenan; followed by SMPN 8 Mataram, SMPN 17 Mataram, and SMPN 19 Mataram.

“The works will be carried out this year, with a total budget of Rp 2.2 billion for seven schools. The amount allocated per school varies, from Rp 200 million, Rp 300 million, to Rp 400 million. The Rp 2.2 billion budget comes from APBD 2026,” he explained.

According to notes from the Mataram Education Office (Disdik), the repairs include adding classrooms, roof repairs, total renovations, and improvements to other facilities.

“It depends on the school, but on average the works involve adding classrooms and roofing,” he said.

“We have set a three-month deadline; by the start of the new academic year it should be ready for use,” added Syarafudin.

Earlier, Disdik Mataram proposed 50 schools for revitalisation in 2026 to the Ministry of Education. Dozens of schools were classified as damaged and deemed in need of immediate repair.

Head of Disdik Mataram, Yusuf, said the revitalisation funds come entirely from the central government via the Ministry of Education. The funds will be disbursed directly to each recipient school.

“For this year there are 50 schools we proposed for revitalisation. We recently finished presenting them,” Yusuf said previously.

Yusuf explained that the 50 proposed schools for revitalisation are spread from kindergartens to junior high schools in Mataram. Schools meeting the criteria will receive revitalisation funds.

“We have submitted through the system. For the damage category, the ministry will determine later, because there will be an application,” he noted.

For information, 26 schools in Mataram City were revitalised in 2025. The types of improvements include classrooms, staff rooms, school fields, and other supporting facilities.
