Mataram Child Protection Agency Reveals Hospital Providing Illegal Abortion Services for Rp 15 Million

The Mataram City Child Protection Agency (LPA) is currently investigating reports of alleged illegal abortion practices at a hospital in Mataram. This suspected illegal practice came to light after the victim’s family reported the matter to LPA Mataram last week.

The Chairman of LPA Mataram, Joko Jumadi, revealed that the report regarding the alleged illegal abortion began when the victim, a high school student, became pregnant by her boyfriend. When the victim sought accountability, the boyfriend’s family instead took her to a hospital, with the costs and administrative processes being covered by the boyfriend’s family.

“Initially, the victim was impregnated by her boyfriend. When she demanded accountability, the boyfriend’s family instead took her to that hospital and funded the abortion,” said Joko when confirmed by detikBali on Sunday (30/08/2026).

Joko stated that based on the testimony provided by the victim and her family to LPA Mataram, the alleged illegal abortion occurred while the victim was in her third year of high school. The victim was under 18 years of age at the time.

“The victim’s family only found out about a month ago, and they immediately reported it to the LPA,” explained Joko.

Joko mentioned that the fetus was two months old at the time of the abortion. The illegal procedure is suspected to have taken place at a private hospital in Mataram. “A private hospital. The doctor was male,” Joko revealed.

According to the victim’s report, the fee for the illegal abortion reached Rp 15 million. “The fee was Rp 15 million. Initially, the victim was given medication, followed by bleeding, and then a curettage procedure,” he explained.

“The victim is now fit and is currently in a safe house. We are also dealing with other victims at this time, as we suspect there are quite many, given that this practice has likely been ongoing for some time,” he concluded.
