Matahari's profits up 89%

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed retailer PT Matahari Putra Prima
reported a net profit of Rp 41.3 billion (US$17 million) during
the first semester of this year, an 89 percent increase over the
same period of last year.

The company said yesterday that sales increased by 7 percent
during the period. The increase was mostly from sales in new
