Matahari Closes Outlet at REVO Town Mall Bekasi, Management Issues Statement
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Based on observations and statements from sources met by CNBC Indonesia at the location, the Matahari Department Store outlet at REVO Town Mall Bekasi is known to have closed permanently. The area inside the store appears no longer operational, while the remaining activity consists only of a bazaar held outside the main shop area.
In response to this, Matahari’s management has finally spoken out. However, the company did not provide detailed reasons behind the closure of the outlet.
“We apologise, but management cannot provide further comments on the matter. The closure of the outlet is part of normal business operational dynamics,” said Matahari Management to CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (28/4/2026).
Management emphasised that the step to close the outlet is part of an ongoing business strategy and is not unusual in the retail industry.
“As we also continue to open new outlets in various locations through various current concepts. Matahari Department Store present in various cities in Indonesia, SUKO in Jakarta, Bekasi, and Surabaya, ZES in Jakarta and Bekasi, as well as MU+KU in Jakarta and Surabaya,” said the management.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Malls Association (APPBI), Alphonsus Widjaja, confirmed that Matahari has closed its outlet at Revo Mall Bekasi.
“It is true that Matahari Department Store (MDS) has permanently closed at Revo Mall Bekasi on 31 March 2026,” he said.
On the other hand, based on CNBC Indonesia’s search on the official Instagram account of the outlet, namely @shopntalk_mataharirevo, no official announcement regarding the closure of the outlet has been seen.
The account still displays promotional activities as usual. The latest post was recorded on 18 March, with content promoting “Raya Offers” offering products starting from Rp199,900. The post also stated, “Special promo from MOC, come on guys to Matahari Revo.”
Previously, a Matahari staff member said that the closure of the outlet at Revo Mall Bekasi has been ongoing for some time.
“It’s been about a month,” he said.
“Just closed,” he added when asked whether the outlet is closed permanently or just moved to another floor or to the mall right next to Revo Mall Bekasi.
The closure of the Matahari outlet at Revo Mall Bekasi is not very noticeable because it still leaves a bazaar stall whose position is right in front of the already closed shop.
Regarding the Matahari bazaar stall, the staff claimed not to know its future. For now, Matahari at Revo Mall Bekasi only exists in the form of a bazaar.
