Bandung (ANTARA) - After more than 12 hours of battling soil and rock materials, PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung has finally restored the Maswati-Sasaksaat line, which was completely paralysed due to a landslide since Wednesday (1/4) at 14:53 WIB.

Manager of Public Relations for Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, explained that the hard work of the emergency response team, which operated non-stop since Wednesday (1/4) evening, has yielded results with the completion of the evacuation of the KA Ciremai train facilities and the cleaning of the rail line from landslide debris, allowing this vital route connecting Bandung-Jakarta to be officially declared passable again on Thursday at 03:20 WIB.

“The entire process of evacuating the KA Ciremai train facilities and clearing the line from landslide materials has been successfully completed. As of Thursday, 2 April 2026, at 03:20 WIB, the Maswati-Sasaksaat line can be traversed again by trains,” said Kuswardojo in Bandung on Thursday.

The restoration of operations following the hours-long disruption was marked by the passage of the former KA Parahyangan (142) train as the first train at the incident site. However, to ensure the safety of the soil structure, the train passed at a limited speed.

“We are still carrying out the gradual normalisation of the line. Our focus is to ensure that all safety aspects are met, so that in the near future this line can be traversed again at normal speed,” he said.

The lengthy mitigation effort was triggered by the difficult terrain and weather conditions at the location, which was hit by heavy rain during the evacuation process.

With the reopening of this line, train journeys are expected to resume operations according to schedule, although customers are still advised to monitor developments through KAI’s official channels.
