Massive Fire Devours 20 Warehouses in Tangerang; Soekarno-Hatta Airport Reveals Current Flight Status
A massive fire struck a warehouse complex in Kosambi Permai, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Wednesday afternoon. Due to its proximity to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), the incident initially raised concerns regarding potential disruptions to flight activities.
However, the management of Soekarno-Hatta Airport has ensured that the incident has no impact on flight operations. Aircraft activities, including both departures and arrivals, continue as usual.
Yudistiawan, the Assistant Deputy of Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, stated that this condition was confirmed through monitoring by the Airport Operation Control Centre (AOCC).
“The management of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure that the conditions around the airport remain safe,” Yudistiawan said in a statement in Tangerang on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
According to him, all aircraft movements are still proceeding according to schedule. Nevertheless, flight safety and security remain the primary focus while the fire-fighting process is underway.
The situation around the incident site is also being continuously monitored by the airport authorities alongside relevant agencies. Management ensured that fire suppression is being carried out intensively by officers on the ground.
In line with this situation, passengers using Soekarno-Hatta Airport are advised not to panic and to continue referring to information provided through official channels.
“Passengers are also advised to continue monitoring the latest information developments through the airport’s official communication channels or relevant airlines,” said Yudistiawan.
Meanwhile, the fire in the Kosambi Permai warehouse area is still being managed. Dozens of firefighters have been deployed to prevent the flames from spreading to other buildings.
The Head of the Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Achmad Taufik, stated that at least 20 warehouse units have been affected by the fire.
Some buildings were known to be empty, while other warehouses were being used to store various goods, including foam mattresses.
“A total of 20 warehouse units have burned; currently, our teams on the ground are wetting the warehouses that have not yet caught fire to prevent the fire from spreading to the next buildings,” said Achmad.
Officers are still carrying out the extinguishing and cooling processes. Wetting efforts are being applied to buildings surrounding the fire’s origin to anticipate the emergence of new flames or the expansion of the affected area.
