Massive Fire Devastates Kasepuhan Ciptamulya, Atalia Praratya Recalls Landslide Tragedy Two Years Ago
A profound sense of grief has enveloped the residents of the Kasepuhan Ciptamulya indigenous village in Sirnaresmi Village, Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. A massive fire broke out in the traditional community on Saturday (25/7/2026) at around 1 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The fire is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit in a bathroom, causing the flames to spread rapidly through the houses. While there were no casualties, 51 homes and 49 leuit, or traditional rice barns, were completely destroyed. The incident was confirmed by Kasepuhan Ciptamulya traditional leader Abah E. Suhendri Wijaya, also known as Abah Hendrik. “A total of 51 houses and 49 rice barns were burned. Not all houses were affected, as some family homes did not catch fire,” he stated.
Upon hearing the news, House of Representatives Commission VIII member Atalia Praratya was reminded of a previous disaster that struck the community two years ago. Through her Instagram account, she expressed her condolences for the current tragedy. “I share in the sorrow of the disaster that has befallen our brothers and sisters in the Cipta Mulya indigenous community, Cisolok, Sukabumi,” she wrote. In her post, Atalia recalled the natural disaster that hit Kasepuhan Ciptamulya at the end of 2024, when a landslide devastated the village. At that time, she and the Jabar Bergerak organisation helped rebuild the affected residents’ homes. “Cipta Mulya is not a foreign place to us. Two years ago, Jabar Bergerak was present and helped rebuild houses that were affected by the disaster. Today, seeing our brothers and sisters tested again certainly brings profound sorrow,” she explained. The prominent West Java female figure prayed that the residents affected by the fire would be granted strength and be able to recover swiftly. “May Allah SWT grant strength, patience, and fortitude to all residents facing this trial. And may from every loss, the strength to rise and rebuild life grow anew,” she concluded.
