Jakarta (ANTARA) - A crowd comprising farmers, fishermen, traders, micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators, students, labourers, youth, and community figures from various regions, united under Tani Merdeka Indonesia (TMI), arrived in Jakarta and staged a peaceful rally in support of President Prabowo Subianto’s pro-people policies in the Patung Kuda area on Friday morning.

The peaceful demonstration was escorted by police. The masses from various regions came to express support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes, which are deemed directly relevant to the people’s needs.

Participants held the peaceful rally carrying banners, posters, and organisational flags. They took turns delivering statements of position from atop a command vehicle.

Chairman of the National Leadership Council of Tani Merdeka Indonesia, Don Muzakir, stated that the support was given because various government programmes are seen as touching the people’s interests, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, food security, the people’s economy, education, health, and social welfare.

“We declare our support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes, which are considered to favour the people’s interests, strengthen the national economy, and improve public welfare,” said Don.

According to him, this support is accompanied by a commitment to oversee the implementation of government programmes so that their benefits are truly felt by the community.

“We are here to ensure that all government programmes are genuinely felt by the people and are not misappropriated by mafias or individuals who obstruct the public interest,” Don stated.

He also assessed that the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) has had a positive impact on farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and local business operators because it increases demand for local food products.

He recounted that previously, harvests such as cabbages often went unsold, but now they are absorbed through the MBG programme. Furthermore, the livestock, fruit, and plantation sectors are also reaping the benefits.

“Because of this, we are very grateful to have a programme that truly reaches village communities,” Don remarked.

He emphasised that the peaceful rally was not a counter-demonstration against any particular group, but was purely intended to convey the aspirations and experiences of village communities who have felt the benefits of various government programmes.

“We simply want to inform the wider public that village residents are very satisfied with President Prabowo Subianto’s various policies,” Don expressed.

He did not stop there, also issuing an urgent call for the government and law enforcement officials to take firm action against food mafias, fertiliser mafias, land mafias, import mafias, and various practices deemed detrimental to the people and obstructive to the implementation of government programmes.

Furthermore, he encouraged the strengthening of village economies through increased productivity in the agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sectors, as well as the development of supporting infrastructure in rural areas.

During the peaceful rally, Don invited all elements of society to jointly maintain political stability and national security.

According to him, a safe and conducive environment is a crucial factor in sustaining economic growth, boosting investor confidence, and creating certainty for the business world and the public.

“We call on all elements of the nation to safeguard political stability and security. Do not let differences of opinion divide the unity that has been our strength all this time,” Don asserted.

He views political stability, security, and the economy as an interconnected unity, so all components of society need to prioritise dialogue, unity, and the spirit of mutual cooperation so that national development can proceed smoothly and public welfare continues to improve.

“We also request that the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) carry out its oversight function to the maximum extent regarding the implementation of pro-people programmes, so they run according to their objectives and are not misused by certain parties,” Don concluded.

The peaceful rally ended in an orderly atmosphere. The crowd dispersed in a structured manner after conveying all their aspirations and statements of position.
