Smiles of happiness and emotion graced the faces of nine couples who finally were able to solemnise their vows in a legal marriage. Having overcome various limitations, they are now beginning a new chapter of life with legal certainty as a vital foundation for building families and achieving a better future.

This meaningful moment took as part of the ‘Awal Baru, Penuh #EnergiBaik’ mass wedding programme held at the PGN Auditorium, Jakarta, on Friday (26/6). The programme is part of the 61st anniversary celebrations of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), a Pertamina Gas Subholding, as a manifestation of the company’s commitment to helping the community obtain legal marriage status under both religious and civil law.

Participants in the programme were from the Central Jakarta area, consisting of private sector employees and traders. Five couples performed the marriage solemnisation directly, while four couples participated in a symbolic procession before proceeding to the marriage validation hearing (isbat nikah). The entire process was conducted solemnly in the presence of families who provided prayers and support.

PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman stated that marriage is not merely a ceremony, but a crucial foundation for building families that are legally protected and have access to various rights in the future.

“Through this Mass Wedding Programme, we want to help couples start a new chapter of life filled with hope, legal certainty, and blessings. This is a tangible manifestation of PGN’s commitment to delivering #EnergiBaik that has a positive impact on people’s lives,” she said.

She added that the family is the primary foundation for building a strong and prosperous society. Therefore, the company strives to present social programmes that are not only ceremonial but also provide sustainable benefits to the recipients.

In this programme, the entire sequence of the marriage solemnisation was facilitated until the couples received official Marriage Books from the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Additionally, each couple received household equipment and initial family necessity packages as provisions for starting their new lives.

According to Fajlyah, through this programme, the company wishes to strengthen the family institution as one of the foundations of social welfare. The presence of the business world within the community is expected to create shared value, where business growth proceeds alongside the improvement of the community’s quality of life.

“We hope this initiative serves as a first step for couples to build harmonious, independent, and prosperous families. We also believe that a company’s success is measured not only by business performance but also by its tangible contribution to supporting the improvement of the community’s quality of life through impactful programmes,” she said.

The Head of the Taman Sari District KUA, Zaenal Arifin, appreciated the programme because it helps the community obtain marriage legality through an orderly process in accordance with regulations.

“We appreciate PGN for this Mass Wedding Programme. Such collaborations provide real benefits to the community by helping couples obtain marriage validation according to religious tenets and state regulations. We hope all couples can build families that are peaceful, loving, and merciful, and serve as role models in their respective environments,” said Zahend.
