Mass Tree Planting Movement Launched in Lamongan to Reduce Carbon Emissions

The Nusa Jaya Tumbuh Bersama Foundation, in collaboration with the Ikatan Keluarga Silat Putra Indonesia (IKSPI) Kera Sakti branch in Lamongan Regency, has launched a mass tree planting initiative. The foundation’s founder, Ahmad Muhlis Fanani, stressed that ecological issues such as climate change, forest degradation, and the increasing risk of natural disasters must be met with concrete action, not just discourse. ‘Planting trees is an investment for the future. We want to encourage the community to start with simple steps that have a major impact on the earth. This movement is proof that environmental awareness must be realised through real action,’ Muhlis said on Monday (13/7/2026). The foundation’s chairman, Moh. Syaiful Rahman, added that this environmental action will not stop in Lamongan. The foundation is committed to expanding collaborations with various communities, educational institutions, and youth groups across Indonesia. This step is considered urgent amidst declining environmental quality and the massive rate of deforestation. ‘We are opening the widest possible space for collaboration so that the greening movement can reach various regions in Indonesia. In addition to preserving the environment, the tree planting movement also helps reduce carbon emissions, improves air quality, and serves as an effort to prevent natural disasters such as floods and landslides,’ Syaiful explained. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the IKSPI Kera Sakti Lamongan Branch, Abdus Salam, welcomed the collaboration. He assessed that active participation in nature conservation is an important part of implementing character education for all members of the martial arts school. ‘Through this movement, we want to raise awareness among all IKSPI Kera Sakti members to be more concerned about the environment. A warrior not only preserves the nation’s culture but also helps protect nature as a heritage we must leave for the next generation,’ said Abdus.
