Tehran (ANTARA) -

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday (18/3) strongly condemned the US and Israeli attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

Pezeshkian made the statement via a post on social media platform X following an airstrike that hit part of the South Pars gas field in southern Iran.

Pezeshkian said that such “aggressive actions” would complicate the situation and could trigger uncontrollable consequences with a scope that could engulf the entire world.

In a separate post on X on the same day, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also condemned the attack, describing it as suicidal for the enemy.

“The phrase ‘an eye for an eye’ now applies, and a new level of confrontation has begun,” Ghalibaf stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian state media reported that a natural gas facility linked to the offshore South Pars gas field had been attacked. Israeli media, citing anonymous sources, stated that the Israeli air force carried out the strike.

On 28 February, Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Tehran and several other cities in Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians. Iran subsequently responded by launching waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and US bases and assets across the Middle East.
