Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has said that the Abadi Masela LNG National Strategic Project has contributed up to US$37.8 billion to state revenue.

He made the remarks at the Groundbreaking of the Abadi Masela LNG National Strategic Project held in Tanimbar, Maluku.

“The Abadi Masela Project is projected to deliver significant economic and fiscal benefits, including increased state revenue with projected direct income of around US$37.8 billion,” said Bahlil, quoted on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Meanwhile, the indirect tax contribution is estimated to reach around US$6.43 billion.

Bahlil added that the project’s impact will also be felt through large-scale job creation. During the construction phase, the project is expected to absorb around 12,000 direct workers.

Once it enters the operational phase, the Abadi Field will employ around 800 to 1,000 workers.

The gas field, with potential reserves of up to 18.54 trillion cubic feet (TCF), is a National Strategic Project (PSN) with an investment value of around US$20.9 billion, equivalent to Rp352 trillion.

Given the scale of the investment, employment absorption and downstream industrial development, the government hopes the Abadi Masela LNG Project will act as a catalyst for new economic growth in eastern Indonesia.

The project is designed to have a production capacity of 9.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year.

In addition, the Abadi Field will also supply around 150 million cubic feet of gas per day for domestic industrial needs, as well as produce around 35,000 barrels of condensate per day.

Bahlil said the presence of this project will not only strengthen national energy resilience, but also create a multiplier effect for industrial development, higher state income and the welfare of communities in Maluku and its surrounding areas.

The Abadi Gas Field in the Masela Block is operated by a consortium of INPEX Masela Ltd with a 65 per cent stake, Pertamina Hulu Energi with 20 per cent, and Petronas Masela Sdn. Bhd. with 15 per cent. (Ant)
