MAS to bring more tourists
JAKARTA (JP): Malaysian Airlines System (MAS) plans to carry
three tourist package groups monthly to Ujungpandang, South
Sulawesi, starting this month, an executive said.
The chief of the MAS Ujungpandang office, Chalik Abdul Samad,
was quoted by Antara as saying Saturday that the airline started
serving the Kuala Lumpur-Ujungpandang route twice weekly in mid
1995 but the occupancy rate never reached 50 percent.
"That is why we are proactive in promoting this route," said
Chalik.
He said that under the promotion, for example, in late October
MAS transported 120 bank employees from Malaysia to Ujungpandang
on a five-day package tour.(10)
