Muhammad Subchi Azal Tsani, known as Mas Bechi, who was convicted of raping a female student at an Islamic boarding school in Jombang, has returned to Malang Class I Prison after his parole was revoked. The remainder of his sentence is now being recalculated.

East Java’s Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections head, Kusnali, said a detailed calculation was needed to determine how much longer Mas Bechi must serve following his return to Malang Class I Prison. The calculation will take into account the time he spent outside prison.

His parole, which had originally been scheduled to last until 2028, is no longer the sole reference following the decision to revoke it.

“We’ll review it and calculate it again. There will be a detailed assessment of how long he was outside and how much of his sentence remains,” Kusnali said, as quoted by detikJatim on Saturday (10 October 2026).

Mas Bechi was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Surabaya District Court for raping a female student at his Islamic boarding school in Jombang. He was detained in 2022 after a joint East Java Police team surrounded the boarding school owned by his parents.

During his sentence, Mas Bechi received several sentence reductions and was granted parole in August 2025 after serving two-thirds of his term. While outside prison, he was required to report monthly to the Malang Class I Correctional Centre, until his parole was originally due to end in 2028.

The parole was revoked effective 30 September 2026. Mas Bechi returned to Malang Class I Prison on 8 October 2026, while an investigation into alleged maladministration and the calculation of his remaining sentence are still under way.
