Mas Bechi Back in Prison, Victim Says Sentence Cannot Make Up for Their Trauma
The revocation of the conditional release of convicted student rape offender Muhammad Subchi Azal Tsani, alias Mas Bechi, was met with relief by his victims. However, his return to Malang Class I Correctional Facility will not erase the deep trauma they must carry for the rest of their lives.
One victim, identified as FPA, said she felt somewhat relieved that Mas Bechi had returned to prison to serve his sentence. Nevertheless, she stressed that his punishment would not be commensurate with the psychological suffering experienced by the victims.
“I feel a little relieved that Bechi, the sexual predator of female students, has returned to prison and become an inmate. But that feeling is not commensurate with the trauma we have experienced. We will carry this trauma until we die,” she said, as reported by detikJatim on Saturday (10 October 2026).
She said the letter revoking Mas Bechi’s conditional release had in fact been issued on 30 September 2026. She questioned how little of his sentence he had served, given that the court had sentenced him to seven years in prison.
“He was sentenced to seven years, but had only served three,” Firda said.
She said calculations based on general and special sentence remissions should not have been enough to make Mas Bechi eligible for conditional release in August 2025. She suspected another factor had allowed him to leave prison early.
“Even if he received general or special remissions, that would not have been enough for conditional release. But it is highly likely he received a remission for a continuing illness, which enabled him to be released conditionally,” she said.
