JAKARTA — Police have revealed that the husband and wife owners of Marwah Wedding Organiser (WO), Eka Rismayanti and Radiansyah Marwah, deliberately fled and hid after scamming dozens of prospective brides and grooms who were their clients. Senior Investigating Officer of East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Bayu Kurniawan, stated that the suspects moved locations multiple times to evade capture before being apprehended. ‘The suspects attempted to flee and hide in a specific location, which prompted a search operation. Thankfully, we were able to identify the perpetrators’ whereabouts,’ Bayu told media on Monday, 1 June 2026. Eka and Radiansyah were arrested on Friday, 29 May 2026, at a rented house in Batulayang Village, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency. Neither resisted during the arrest. Initial investigations revealed at least 58 Marwah WO clients were victims of the scam. However, the number of victims and the total losses may increase as the investigation continues. ‘Current losses amount to approximately Rp 2.6 billion, with further increases possible,’ Bayu said. After police questioning, Eka and Radiansyah admitted that the clients’ funds were used to finance other clients’ wedding events. ‘The suspects reused the victims’ money to cover previous wedding events,’ Bayu added. He described the practice as a Ponzi scheme, with new clients’ funds used to cover obligations to previous clients.
