Marwah WO Owner Arrested Over Fraud Against 58 Couples
The East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested the owner of Marwah Wedding Organiser (WO), suspected of defrauding dozens of couples.
“The East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit successfully apprehended the owner of Marwah Wedding Organiser (WO) suspected of committing fraud against couples,” said East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Kombes Pol Alfian Nurrizal in his official TikTok account.
According to police data, 58 couples are suspected victims in the case. Of these, 56 were unable to hold their planned weddings. “Two couples proceeded with their weddings but did not receive the promised services, while the remaining 56 were unable to hold their ceremonies,” Alfian said.
Of the 24 documented victims, reported losses total approximately Rp2.66 billion. Alfian added that the figure may increase as investigations and victim documentation continue.
East Jakarta Metropolitan Police are continuing to investigate the fraud scheme used in the case. The case has drawn attention following the circulation of a video showing a meeting between victims and the suspects at East Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters.
In a video posted on his Instagram account @alfiannurrizal.id, Alfian reprimanded two individuals allegedly detained in the case. “You know, marriage is sacred. But you did this through fraud. That’s heartless. Your actions are despicable. You’ve been lying constantly,” Alfian said, pointing at the two individuals seated before him.
During the meeting, victims also demanded that the suspects take responsibility for their losses. “We demand accountability. That’s the main point,” one victim said.
